Twenty-something “Mad” Mary McArdle is released from a six-month prison stint just in time for her best friend, Charlene’s wedding. A lot has changed at home while Mary’s been whittling away time in prison for a drunken bar fight. Charlene has moved on from their rough and tumble past antics and assuming that Mary doesn’t have anyone to bring to the wedding, she denies her a plus-one that sends Mary reeling to find one.

Just when Mary is about to give up on ever finding a plus-one, along comes Jess, the confident and cute wedding videographer, and suddenly the world looks a little brighter. At times hilarious and achingly sad, Mary comes to terms with her changing friendship with Charlene and her growing feelings for Jess. In a wonderfully layered and moving performance from Seána Lerslake as Mary, this is a film you won’t want to miss. Set in Drogheda, Ireland, this coming-of-age film is ultimately a tale about growing up, accepting responsibility and entering adulthood.
